hey foks,

I figured out that the headlight adjustment thingy is hydraulic. Is there a way to bleed it? Does it have a reservoir? How do I make it work? Turning the knob, I observe fluid moving in the tubes, but lots of air...

I don't know, but would like to see a pic of the headlight adjuster controls if possible.

There was some discussion about this before. I believe that the system is sealed when manufactured. Once air gets in or it cracks and the fluid escapes it is useless. You will have to buy another system. Mine does not work either.

You asking why my name is Shifty?

I did a 5-speed conversion that took, um, a little longer than I had expected it to! Here's the link to the conversion:

I polled the board for a new handle, and they came up with Shifty! It was Lars Bend OR's idea on the Roadfly board:

Aaron, you could be right. JBort is one guy on here that's done basically a full Euro conversion of his 528e. He did the bumpers and the Euro headlights with wipe/wash/adjustment. He did a lot of his own wiring and plumbing on those parts, so I think he knows just as well as anyone about this stuff.

So that's it? It leaks and you give up? Doesn't sound like the BMW hack mechanics I know. If man built it, man can fix it. We need one of these units as a guinea pig.

Shifty: More love to y'all!

I've spent most of a wet Grand Prix saturday watchin BMW-Williams slide around the home track, (Go Webber!) and surfin' the pics on your site! I also delved into Mark Twain to surmise that you meant that JBort could be my life-long brother in arms on this issue ;-)

On the lamp adjustment adjuster thingy, i'm thinking of cutting the lines, inserting a bicycle hydro brake bleeder somehow, and charging it all up with whateveer goes in there.

When the GP-stopping rain has ceased, I will venture outside into our glorious summer... brrr...

I knew what Shifty meant.

Here's the entire system:

It is a sealed pneumatic unit. Once it's open, it's JUNK.

The control unit is part of the sealed system.

Everything you see pictured is about USD$140.

I've installed the complete system twice.
