AWESOME NEWS. Thanks for the fast reply todd.

NA power on this motor is more than enough when adding a cam...or some good @#$# heads.

Going to sound wicked as all hell as well.

This is a great project. Got a LS2 in the daily and I love that I can get power for little money compared to bmws.

Found some manifolds that will work with some minor mods to the driver's side.

They are from a LS6 CTS-V. This is what they look like from the side. They are a nice design for a cast manifold. Should work well.

BTW, with the addition of these manifolds the engine is essentially a 5.3L LS6. Math says 385bhp stock. This thing is going to be really nasty at 8/9psi!

Oh man, this talk of a kit makes me giddy. I was looking at various parts and different solutions to get a combo similar to this in my e12 based six. Ill definitely keep tabs on this thread!

Woke at 0515 and made the 145 mile drive up this morning with my dedicated son Harper! :alright:

We had a great day working on the car today. Installed the 346lsd then got to work on the engine while Sweeney was busy fabricating. Installed the LS6 cam and prepped the block to receive the heads. Harper and I changed the valve springs on a cyl head and then while Sweeney and were working on piping solution Harper changed the valve springs on the other head!

I took several pics. Here is one of the nearly completed driver's side manifold. I'll post the rest tomorrow.

Sweeney warming manifolds prior to welding.

Look of each finished manifold. Both flanges were trimmed to fit between the frame rails. It's tight!

Next week the engine the engine will be assembled. Will will also be cutting the front end upo a little bit. The radiator core support and some other minor sheetmetal is going away. We will be dropping the radiator a little and moving it in a little to make room for the intercooler.

Todd, are you going with a bigger rad or keeping the stocker?

I bought a universal Griffin radiator that is the same sq/in but thicker core.

Another good day. We started the the day by removing the radiator core support and part of the valance to make room for lowering the radiator and creating space for the intercooler and piping.

Image

I ordered the a Bell intercooler core this morning. 18x12x3. Tanks will be top and bottom.

Turbo is in it's final position. Driver's side piping to turbo is done. Piping from passenger side next week.

So all eight cylinders will be pushing exhaust through the one turbine housing? All I have ever seen is twin, large turbos on a V8. What has your research yielded for a single setup?

I think you will run into a huge bottle neck with the exhaust at the turbo which will choke down the engine.

90% of all v8 turbos are a single. In fact, people make 600-800hp with .96 housings. I am using a 1.15 housing that will support 1000hp easily.

Just go to LS1tech forced induction section for some easy reading.

I guess I am thinking in the NA realm where I have long tube headers into dual 2.25" pipe all the way back with a crossover and flowmaster mufflers. With that and looking at all your cylinders going through one turbine housing make me think choke. Will check out LS1tech at work today.

About 16.5 in the 1/4. About the same as a 6.6 T/A of the same year.

Why are you using such a big housing when you are shooting for under 600whp? Seems like a waste, and more lag then needed.

Because big is cool, duh

Duke, have you been hiding under a rock? Twin turbo V8's were a thing of the 90's. Single turbo is the way to go. A lot of the mustang 1/4 mile guys are doing huge single turbos.

I am using it to produce the tq curve that I desire. A smaller turbine hosuing that gives instant boost is going to hit very hard and be useless in a 3100lb car with a 245 tire. I could use the boost controller to achieve desired boost levels but would lose top end potential power with a smaller housing.

Since this motor has a lot of power n/a lag won't be an issue for drivability. Remember this engine starts with the power that a m30 makes at 10/12psi.

I also am aiming for a motor that makes at least equivalent HP as TQ and maybe more. The large a/r should really help top end power.
