With full megasquirt or with megasquirt just controlling fuel? With megasquirt controlling only fuel, power output will be identical to a properly tuned car running Motronic, but it will be easier to tune for big power/boost since you can control larger injectors more easily. Duke is using monstrous injectors in his TEC3 setup (72lb ones I think!), which would be difficult to impossible to do with Motronic alone.
With a full megasquirt you could probably squeeze out a few more hp due to the fact that you can add timing to just before the point of detonation on boost and also improve lower rpm torque by advancing the timing. I wouldn't imagine it being worth more than 10-20whp though.

I think i disagree with this. Once you move to forced induction, you should ditch motronic and go with MS, even if its only fuel. You should get more power/torque simply because you can do a more accurate job delivering fuel than Motronic + mechanical hacks can. Motronic has no idea you're boosted, after all. You may as well not even have it.

There is zero power to be gained at WOT because of more accurate controls! The 745i had a perfect AFR at WOT with the Motronic and mechanical hacks.. The HP gains are from the removal of the AFM. MS should also given better drivability.

You need to contact Peter Florance (peter@firstfives.org) to buy a unit. He has been doing a pretty good business just repairing preassembled units purchased from other companies.

At 20 psi....you are at a mechanical limit, not electronic. TEC3 can run a 1000+ HP V12 easily. 20 psi is testing the limit of any head gasket.
Even though I have built my motor specifically for FI, I will not be going past 20 psi. It will be plenty, I am sure.

How local do you need? I'm in central Ct along with Chris (if he ever puts that car of his back together!). Your sig says Long Island, so that's not far. If you need more power than 20psi provides, you have some serious issues.

The head gasket is the limitation. What did BMW use for head gasklets on the 1300 hp M10 based turbo engines in the 1980's Formula One cars?
Porsche got around this on their turbo prototype cars by welding the heads to the cylinders!
That's why they developed the four valve heads for the 935, 956, and 962 race cars ... so they could insert the valves after the heads were welded onto the cylinders.
Be a hero and weld an aluminum head to a cast iron block on an M30 engine!

The map sensor that comes "stock" with the MS kit is 2.5 bar. This is 1.5 bar boost, i.e. ~22psig. There are many other map sensors that are direct replacements and go much higher, you just have to tell the software what you have.
